Club Rules

Some rules have their own pages – such as how to rotate players.

This page has the rules that need a high profile, but don’t require their own page. As follows:

Bookings

  • Players may book only 2 sessions per week
  • Players may attend only those sessions they have signed up for in the booking system.
    • Exception: if the 7:30 session has 15 or fewer players present by 7:35, then players from the 6:00 session can make up the difference (up to a total of 16 and not more).

Transitions

  • Players in the 6:00 session – even if they are signed up to play at 7:30 also – need to cease playing and exit the courts by 7:30. Ideally, someone at the benches will shout “last rally” at about 7:29, to alert them. In any case, at 7:30 the transition to the new group must be done.
  • Players arriving for the 7:30 session may not put their paddles into the rotation until it is actually 7:30. Similarly for the benches: 7:30 players must not sit on the benches until 7:30, to avoid confusion.
  • Players in the 7:30 session need to cease playing by about 8:55, in order to commence dismantling the nets and other shutdown work. Ideally, someone at the benches will shout “last rally” at about that time.
  • At the end of the evening, return the benches to their locations under the side-walls’ basketball hoops. (This applies only to Holy Name of Mary school.)
  • Aim to be out of the gym by 9pm and leave the school promptly thereafter

Benefits of Volunteering

  • People who help set up the nets get to play in the first game. To help ensure that you get your reward for helping with setup, please place your paddle on the baseline of the court where you are helping. That is your claim to play in the first game on that court.

School Rules

  • Do NOT enter the school until a custodian has allowed first entry. This will generally be at about 6:00pm. This means that you must NOT enter the school if the door happens to open when someone is leaving the school.
  • (Holy Name of Mary school only) Do not park in the bus lanes in front of the school – even though they are marked as parking spots. This is a fire lane.
  • (Holy Name of Mary school only) Equipment must be removed from the school at the end of each session. Volunteers will take charge of this.
