If there are 17 players or more …
- Games will end at 9 points (with no requirement to win by 2 points)
- At the end of a game, both teams return to the bench
- Players will insert their paddles at the inner end (closest to the middle of the bench) of the Silver pile (if they lost) or the Gold pile (if they won).
If there are 16 players or less …
- Games will be to 11, with a requirement to win by 2 points
- At the end of a game, the members of the winning team will stay on the court. They will split so they become opponents for the next game. The losing players will place their paddles at the bottom of a pile: one will go in the Silver pile and one in the Gold pile.
- If a player is on the winning team, and has already played 3 games in a row, they will leave the court anyway, and put their paddle at the bottom of the Gold pile.
Who goes on the court next? Four paddles will be taken from one pile. Paddles are taken from the outside of the pile (nearest the end of the bench) , since the players will now be going out on the courts.
Paddles are taken from either the Silver pile or the Gold pile. They alternate, one after the other. A benefit of this approach is that it helps avoid having entire foursomes repeating. Players should avoid repeatedly partnering with each other.
