The custodians generally allow people to enter at about 6pm. We rely on the good will of the custodians. Always be polite and respectful.
The first capable person to arrive (i.e. someone who has attended a few times AND feels they can do it) will be responsible for setting up the doorbell and the log book – as follows.
The first thing you need to do is to get the small zippered bag that is stored with the pickleball nets. Once you have it, take out the doorbell ringer, the doorbell button, the log book and the pen.
Plug the doorbell ringer into the wall outlet near the gym door. (See image below.) Take the doorbell button (in its Ziploc bag, with sticky painters tape on it) to the front door. Stick the doorbell button to the outside of the entry door, where people will see it. (See image below.)
Turn to a fresh page in the log book. Put the date at the top. Add two column headings: 6:00 and 7:30. Add your Name as the first entry in the 6pm column. And get anyone else who has already arrived to add their information.
When a new person arrives, do this:
- let them in!
- ensure they take off their outdoor shoes or boots
- get them to add their name to the Log
When the doorbell rings, “anyone” can go and let the person in. Just be sure to do the steps listed above (remove outdoor shoes/boots and add to the log book).
Later on, when the first capable person arrives for the 7:30 session, they will become responsible for answering the doorbell to admit the first few 7:30 players.
